The cheapest United fare. On India/transpacific routes it keeps the full carry-on bag and includes one free checked bag, but the seat is assigned by United, you board last (Group 6) and the ticket cannot be changed. Best for confirmed travel plans.
United sells branded economy fares — Basic Economy (the cheapest and most restrictive), standard Economy, and a fully refundable Economy — plus Premium Plus (its premium-economy cabin), United Business and the long-haul Polaris business product. On flights between India and the US (across the Pacific), United uses a piece concept: economy typically allows 2 checked bags up to 23 kg each and business up to 2 × 32 kg, with the exact allowance shown at booking. Crucially, on these transpacific/India routes Basic Economy still lets you bring a full carry-on bag and includes one free checked bag — unlike domestic US Basic Economy, which does not. Loyalty is via MileagePlus across the Star Alliance.

General Cancellation & Reschedule Notes
United cancellation terms depend on the fare. Basic Economy cannot be changed and, after the 24-hour window, gives only a partial travel credit if cancelled before departure — a full refund is available only within 24 hours of purchase. Standard non-refundable economy issues future travel credit, refundable economy and most flexible business fares refund to the original form of payment. Statutory taxes on unused tickets are always refundable. Check the exact rules shown at booking and in My Trips.
United charges no change fee on most standard Economy, Premium Plus and Business fares originating in the US or India (a fare difference still applies), but Basic Economy is non-changeable — the only way to alter it is to cancel and rebook. Same-day changes are handled separately and subject to availability. Confirm the exact change rules at booking.
Consumer protections: Statutory government taxes are typically refundable on request even for non-refundable fares. EU261 (for EU departures), US DOT rules (for US departures) and similar consumer-protection regulations may also apply to your booking.
