JAL international Economy, sold from Special (cheapest, most restrictive) up to Flex (fully changeable and refundable). All economy fares include 2 checked bags on India–Japan routes and the same inflight service; the fare tier decides your seat, change and refund terms.
Japan Airlines (JAL) sells four cabins on its international network — Economy, Premium Economy, Business and First — and, unlike carriers that brand each cabin separately, applies flexibility tiers (typically Special, Semi-Flex and Flex) within a cabin at the fare-rules level. Special is the cheapest and most restrictive (changeable for a fee and generally non-refundable), while Flex allows free changes and refunds; the tier you get is shown at booking. On routes between India and Japan, JAL uses a piece concept for checked baggage (verified on jal.co.jp): Economy and Premium Economy include 2 pieces up to 23 kg each, and Business and First include 3 pieces up to 32 kg each, with no single bag over 32 kg. Cabin baggage is 1 bag plus 1 personal item, 10 kg total. Loyalty is via JAL Mileage Bank across the oneworld alliance.

Japan Airlines Fare Classes — Detailed Breakdown

JAL Business Class — lie-flat seats with aisle access on most wide-bodies, lounge access, premium dining and a generous three-piece checked allowance. The usual top cabin on India routes. Sold across the Special/Semi-Flex/Flex flexibility tiers.
JAL First Class — a private suite, the highest service tier, First lounges and fine dining, offered on limited routes and generally not sold on direct India sectors. Includes the same three-piece 32 kg allowance as Business and the top JAL service.
General Cancellation & Reschedule Notes
JAL cancellation depends on the fare tier within your cabin rather than a separate brand name. Special fares are generally non-refundable (only unused taxes back); Semi-Flex fares are refundable with a fee; and Flex fares are fully refundable. Premium cabins are generally more flexible. Unused statutory taxes are refundable. The exact tier and its rules are shown at booking and in Manage booking.
Changes also follow the fare tier: Special and Semi-Flex fares allow changes for a fee, while Flex fares allow free changes (a fare difference may still apply). Because the same cabin can be sold at different tiers, confirm your fare's change and refund rules at booking rather than assuming from the cabin alone.
Consumer protections: Statutory government taxes are typically refundable on request even for non-refundable fares. EU261 (for EU departures), US DOT rules (for US departures) and similar consumer-protection regulations may also apply to your booking.
